Sugar Background – By Crista Guthrie
This is a medley of “Sugar” by Maroon 5 and “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies. Why not mix oldies with something new? Unfortunately, we did not get to roll around in actual sugar (the sweet grain), but we did score on a magnificently beautiful location! This video and “Welcome Home” were both filmed in Twin Falls, Idaho. My uncle Kevin had great connections with Blue Lakes Country Club, so we were able to access Signature Hole 6 on the golf course that is right off the Snake River and near the iconic Perrine Bridge.
I fell in love with “Sugar” by Maroon 5 when they first released it and fell in love, even more, when I saw their music video where they crashed random weddings and performed. Who DOESN’T Maroon 5 to crash their wedding?! (Maroon 5 might be tricky, but be sure to let 92 Keys know if you want some fun instrumental music at your wedding!)
I love creating medleys of pop songs and older songs, whether it be from 40 years ago are 240 years ago. When I arranged “Uprising on Bach’s Toccata,” I used a piece from the18th century and one from the 21st, but this time I didn’t go as far back in time and stuck with a late 1960’s song, “Sugar, Sugar,” by fictional band “the Archies.” (Anyone remembers the animated TV series The Archie Show?) Also, the title and purpose of the song are pretty similar to Maroon 5’s. Thus, the creation of 92 Keys’ “Sugar.”
Thank you to our Patrons for making this video possible!
